why resolution® polycarbonate?

All Polycarbonate Lenses Are Not the Same. Only RESOLUTION® Is Made With the ECM-9™ Process For Flawless Optics.

When lenses are placed between polarized film, the optical flaws in other polycarbonate lenses are evident. The RESOLUTION® lens is clear, optically superior and free of any manufacturing stress (birefringence).

To the naked eye, all other polycarbonate lenses may look the same, but put them under polarized film and the difference becomes very apparent. The photos above tell the story. The fact is that all the color striations that you see in the bottom, left lens, represents "stress". This stress is produced by the injection compression processes used by all the other polycarbonate lens manufacturers to make their lenses.

Only RESOLUTION® uses a patent-pending process ECM-9™ (Extrusion Compression Molding) technology. It is a gentle process that does not introduce any stress into the lens. The result is a near perfect optical lens (top right), virtually free of any birefringence or stress.

Why Birefringence
in a Lens is of Significance

Birefringence matters because these "stresses" directly correlate to optical defects. And these defects are significant. Actual diagrams, by an independent optical design and engineering firm, are overlaid on the photos (shown in the right column). As you can see, the RESOLUTION® lens has virtually no loss of resolution while the "other" polycarbonate lens has only a small area free of resolution loss. When it comes to power variation, the RESOLUTION® lens is accurate to .01 throughout the entire lens. The "other" polycarbonate has a extended perimeter of power loss that goes from a .2 to an astonishing .7. These differences are not trivial. Bear in mind that even a .25 correction, in a prescription, can make a huge difference in your vision.

Highest Impact Resistance and Birefringence-Free — for Greater Material Integrity

Today rimless glasses are the rage. Drilling and inserting screws in the lens adds tension and creates lens stress. Eliminate the stress and you eliminate lens cracking and breakage. Because RESOLUTION® lenses are free of stress, they are guaranteed against lens cracking. They also meet the industry's highest rating for impact resistance, passing the FDA drop ball test. No matter what activities you participate in, you can be assured that RESOLUTION® offers you the highest impact protection available along with its superior optics.

RESOLUTION® — Recognized By the Industry With Two of Its Highest Awards and Available in a Full Line of Products

RESOLUTION® lenses offer you the ultimate combination of safety, material integrity and flawless optics. With RESOLUTION® COLOR FREE AR — The Invisible Lens™, you get the added benefit of a color-free AR (anti-reflective) coating. Your virtually reflection-free lenses will provide you with amazing clarity and higher visual acuity. Your lenses will appear invisible. For progressive lens wearers there is RESOLUTION® RESPONSE®, featuring a short corridor progressive that is ideal for today's smaller frames. RESOLUTION® and RESOLUTION® RESPONSE® are also available in Transitions V for photochromics that activate and deactivate fast, and are darker outdoors, but as clear as a regular lens indoors. RESOLUTION® also offers a tintable lens that can be tinted to even the darkest sunglass shades.
