why resolution™ Lenses?

The Best AR Lens Needs the
Best Base Lens Material — Award-Winning RESOLUTION® Lenses

Unretouched photos of -4.00 lenses placed between polarized film

The overall quality of your AR lens is only as good as your AR coating AND your base lens material. That's why COLOR FREE AR — The Invisible Lens™ uses two-time OLA award-winning RESOLUTION® lenses as its base lens material.

The Difference is in the Manufacturing Process, Not the Lens Material

While other polycarbonate lenses may look the same, to the naked eye, put them under polarized film and the difference becomes very apparent. The photos above tell the story better than words alone. The fact is that all the color you see represents "stress". Stress is produced by the injection compression processes used by all the other polycarbonate lens manufacturers to make their lenses. The RESOLUTION® difference is that it uses a patent-pending process ECM-9™ (Extrusion Compression Molding) technology. It is a gentle process that does not introduce any stress into the lens. The result is a near-perfect optical lens, virtually free of any birefringence or stress.

Why Birefringence
in a Lens Matters

Birefringence matters because these "stresses" directly correlate to optical defects. And these defects are significant. Tests by a world-renowned optical design and engineering firm proved
that "birefringence found in other polycarbonate lenses causes resolution loss so great that any power correction becomes irrelevant". They also found power variations so extreme they far exceeded accepted manufacturing tolerances.

Accurate Resolution, True Power Correction and Distortion-Free Optics

Once again, pictures tell the story. The actual diagrams, by the same optical design and engineering firm, are overlaid on the photos (shown in the right column) to scale. As you can see, the RESOLUTION® lens has virtually no loss of resolution, while the "other" polycarbonate lens has only a small area free of resolution loss. When it comes to power variation, the RESOLUTION® lens is accurate to .01 throughout the entire lens. The "other" polycarbonate has a extended perimeter of power loss that goes from a .2 to an astonishing .7. These differences are not trivial. Bear in mind that even a .25 correction, in a prescription, can make a huge difference in your vision.

Improved Light Transmission AND Exquisite Optics, All in One Lens

COLOR FREE AR — The Invisible Lens™, combined with RESOLUTION®, gives you the ultimate in lens performance.
